About East Lyme Babe Ruth

East Lyme Babe Ruth offers baseball opportunities to players from the towns of East Lyme (Niantic), Salem, Lyme, Old Lyme and East Haddam(Moodus).  Games are played primarily at Veteran’s Field or Peretz/Bridebrook Park in Niantic.

Season I - One Division
Ages: 13, 14 and 15
April - Late May
All ages play together with the number of teams dependent upon the number of registered players.
During this time, players and caregivers should note that CIAC rules prohibit players on a high school team (any level) from also participating in other baseball programs during the course of the season; therefore, they are not eligible for Season I Babe Ruth.
Season II - Two Divisions
13-15 Division *
Late May – School Year End
All ages play together with the number of teams dependent upon the number of registered players. High school players in this age group are eligible for play once their school season has ended

* All-Star/Post-Season Play
Late June through Mid-July
The East Lyme Babe Ruth League submits teams to participate in District and State Babe Ruth Tournaments in late June through mid July with the possibility of advancing to Regional play in August.  Player selections are made primarily by the league's managers with input from assistant coaches and players.  Tournament team managers also reserve the right to make 2 "Manager Selections" to fill out any tournament roster.  Players wishing to be considered for a tournament team must meet the minimum play requirement for session II (50% of games scheduled).  It is the intention of the ELBR to field teams at the 15U, 14U & 13U levels.

16-18 Division
School Year End - August
Players ages 16, 17 and 18 are offered summer play once the school year has ended. Tryouts are conducted and players are chosen based on skill level, ability and the need to field a well-rounded team. Depending upon the number of interested players, cuts may be a possibility. The team carries extra players so that jobs and vacations are not a major conflict for the team.
Fall Season - One Division
13-15 plus Little League Grads
September and October
Players eligible by spring/summer rules age 13-15 in addition to players having "graduated" from the little league level play together. The number of teams is dependent upon the numbers of registered players. Games can be scheduled with neighboring towns. Games are played on weekends, and double-headers are likely.
