Bumblebees 2017:

As Bumblebee Soccer is the first experience many families have with youth soccer, we thought it would be helpful to provide you with some additional information about the program.

SYSO will run one fifty-five minute session, starting at 9:00 am each Saturday, for six consecutive weeks, starting September 9th.

We play next to the U8 Fields at upper Austin Park (next to the YMCA Parking Lot).  A Coordinator will lead these sessions and experienced teen coaches will assist in running the drills and scrimmages.

Recognizing that Bumblebee players are new to the concept of soccer, the players will spend the majority of the time at each session with a ball, building comfort and confidence.  The focus will be introducing players to basic principles such as dribbling, kicking and passing.  Each session will include a brief warm-up, followed by a few fun drills and end with small-sided scrimmages.  Our goal is to give each player as many opportunities to practice their foot skills as possible.

Other things you may want to keep in mind:

  • We play on Saturdays only – NO weekday practices.
  • Players are not assigned to teams.
  • Bumblebee shirts are handed out at the first session, please plan to arrive fifteen minutes early.
  • Your child should wear shin guards and bring a water bottle to the sessions.
  • And if it rains, we do NOT play.

You can find additional soccer related information at the SYSO website (www.skansoccer.com).

In the meantime, let us know if you would be willing to help out on the field by indicating so on your registration.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

The SYSO Board of Directors
