Tri Valley Babe Ruth began as San Ramon Babe Ruth in 1990 under the direction and leadership of Joe DeProspero. Through "Coach Joe's" efforts we were able to secure the once broken down ball field at Camp Parks as our home field. Countless hours and several thousand dollars later our field began to take shape as did Tri-Valley Babe Ruth. 2016 marks the 27 year anniversary dating back to 1990. Over the past 27 years, we are extremely proud and honored to look back on the field, our relationship with Camp Parks, and more importantly, off-field success of our ball players.
2017 marks the 28th year providing instruction for 13-15 year old ballplayers in our area. Our focus is skill development and instruction while preparing our players for high school baseball. We have enjoyed a great deal of success over the years and have become a premier not-for-profit baseball program in Northern California. In 2017, all 46 of our 46 TVBR high school players made their respective high school rosters. We are proud of their success! Our TVBR players feed into the freshman, junior varsity or varsity baseball levels at East Bay Athletic League and Diablo Foothill Athletic League high schools located within our geographic footprint in Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville and Alamo. In May 2014, MaxPreps ranked the East Bay Athletic League as the 9th best high school baseball league in the United States: http://www.maxpreps.com/m/article.aspx?articleid=4746c7f3-f73b-42c7-9094-9c8dd9f3aae7
Our year-round season includes a fall program (Sep-Nov), the annual Fall Classic tournament, a winter conditioning program, a spring season for both 13 and 14 year olds (Feb-May), and a 20 game regular season that commences in mid-May and continues through the end of June. We field three age-pure All-Star teams that compete in District, State, Regional, and hopefully World Series play throughout July and August. Tri-Valley Babe Ruth has earned national recognition with 13 World Series appearances and 7 World Series Championships in the past decade.
We are very proud of our TVBR Alumni and their accomplishments! In 2014, the EBAL MVP Field Player was Casey Soltis (Granada), with 13 other TVBR players also making All-League Honors in either EBAL or DFAL that year. In 2013, the All-League EBAL MVP Pitcher was Jacob Payne (Granada) Sr. and 18 other TVBR players also made All-League Honors in either EBAL or DFAL that year. In the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, Mark Appel, TVBR Alum (2004-2006) from Stanford/Monte Vista was the first overall pick in the 2013 MLB draft by the Houston Astros! Additionally, LSU/Amador Valley’s Will LaMarche (2005-2007) was selected in the 9th round by the Detroit Tigers. Both Brandon Crawford, the San Francisco Giants starting short-stop, and Stephen Piscotty, the St. Louis Cardinals' starting right fielder, are TVBR Alumni. Crawford and Piscotty played TVBR back in the early 2000s. We are proud of our Alumni and are excited to root for their continued success.
