The Warren County Midget Football League has been in existence for over 65 years and the Flemington Pioneers have been part of the league for the past 48 years.  It has been providing high quality, family-friendly  youth football and cheerleading for over a half a century in the central jersey area.

The WCMFL supports 4 levels of football from grades Kindergarten through 8th grade

The WCMFL season start Labor Day weekend and runs through to the Thursday before Thanksgiving (Championship weekend)

The WCMFL Varsity and JV levels play for a league championships where the top 4 teams play a championship bracket.
The Peewee team plays in an end of year tournament.

The teams in the league play on local fields that are either associated with or owned by the teams in the leagues.  Most fields are 80 yards long (some are longer) and can be anywhere from 40-50 yards wide.

Games can be either Sunday mid-day or Saturday night if the home team has a lighted field.
These venues and the four games a day schedule provides for a family-friendly, high spirited excitement which is the  hallmark of the WCMFL. 

There are weight limits for the 3 tackle football squads

  • Varsity (14U and in 8th grade or lower) = 155 lbs (increased 5l bs in 2016)

  • JV (12U and in 6th grade or lower) = 130 lbs (increased 5 lbs in 2016)

  • Peewee (10U and in 4th grade or lower) = 115 lbs (increased 5 lbs in 2016)

  • Flag (8U and in 2nd grade or lower) = No Weight Limit.

There are minimum playtime rules for the for JV football squads and younger.

  • Varsity = No minimum play-time

  • JV  = 4 to 8 play minimum based on roster size

  • Peewee  = 8 play minimum

  • Flag  = 8 Play minimum

Opponents primarily are from the Warren County area however there are some, besides FMF, from outside Warren County that are in the Hunterdon County area such as Lambertville and Reigel Ridge.

There are no residential or sending district restrictions on who can play for what team in the league.

Most teams, including the FMF Teams, have cheer squads at each league level at are part of the game-day experience and compete in the regional cheer competitions.
