Here is a list of all the Boys Youth Lacrosse opportunities offered by the Hopkins Youth Lacrosse Association. To register for any of these programs you will need to go to the REGISTER HERE button on the home page. The registration information will be posted 1-2 months prior to the start of each season. For some opportunities you may have to register with organizations like, Hopkins Community Ed, St Louis Park Youth Lacrosse or Home Grown Lacrosse.
The HYLA offers the following lacrosse options for boys living in or attending school in the Hopkins School District (which includes all of Hopkins and parts of Minnetonka, St Louis Park, Golden Valley, Eden Prairie, Plymouth and Edina). The idea is to play for the Youth Association that is a feeder program for the high school you plan to attend, be it Hopkins HS, Edina HS, Minnetonka HS, Blake, Breck or Benilde.
Hopkins Boys GNLL Box "indoor" Lacrosse League (weekend games and practice once a week on Tuesdays march-April)...
Age Levels: This spring (March-April), HYLA is offering league play at the 10U, 12U and U14 age levels for the (GNLL) Great Northern Youth Pre-season Box Lacrosse League run by Homegrown Lacrosse .
Games & Practices: There will be 1 indoor practices a week held on Tuesday nights between 6-9 pm for ne hour per team at the Hopkins Pavilion Arena here in Hopkins. A 6 games season will be played on Saturday/Sunday starting March 18 through April 23 at arenas in teh western suburbs with home games at te Pavilion. . Additional practices may be added outrside as the weather improves on grass in April.

COST: $280 per player.

Each player will recieve a uniorm (jesey & shorts) for the season that has to be returned at the end of the season

Hopkins/SLP Boys GNLL Spring Field Lacrosse League (weekend games and weekday practices (April-mid June)
For the second year inma row Hopkins will be offering spring field lacrosse.
AGE LEVELS: Boys 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U field lacrosse teams.
PRACTICES & GAMES: Practices are on Tuesday and THurs nights 5:30-7pm at St Louis Park Middle School. Games are on the weekends in May and during the week in June. Games are played 5 v 5 for 8U, 7 vs 7 fir 10U on shortened fields (60 yards long by 35 yards wide), while 12U & 14U play 10 v 10 on full sized fields (football field).

Boys Equipment & Where To Find It: Required equipment includes a lacrosse helmet (Black), gloves (Black), shoulder & elbow pads (Black), lacrosse stick (40-42"), and mouth guard (no clear). These can be purchased new at Dicks (Mtka) and Northstar Lax (Main St in Hopkins) or used at Play it Again (Hwy 7 Mtka). We have an annual 15% off Discount Day comng up at Dicks on Sun, March 17th (10am-4pm). For more info see the “Equipment Tips” page on this website. Beginner equipment costs vary between ($150-$300) for everything. Youth helmets are the most expensive item at $100 new and $60 used.

Boys Summer Travel Tournament teams (MN Loons, MN Chill, Team MN, True, etc)
Experience Level: The travel team experience is intended for experienced players that want to play at a higher level and travel to tournaments over the summer. The coaches are their to develop players individual and team skills, plus the desire to be competitive and win. The youth team level (U13 & U15) is not nearly as intense as the high school levels where players are showcasing their lacrosse talent in hopes of getting a college athletic scholarship.
Grade Levels: Travel Teams are formed at the 12U and 14U age levels on up through high school for girls and boys and run by travel team organizations. These are not run by youth associations and sometimes conflict with their 1-2 practices/games a week in summer.
Practices & Games: 1-2 practices a week and weekend games at local & national tournaments June-August.
Registration & Fees: Tryouts take place in May-June. fees vary. Tean fees run between ($500-$1500 +). for the summer
Equipment: Full equipment is requires. In some cases you will be required to purchase a team helmet, gloves, etc.
