McDOWELL HOCKEY CLUB

The McDowell Trojan Hockey club is currently in the process of making plans for the 2012 McDowell Alumni Hockey Game.

This years event will be held on Friday, December 28th at the Mercyhurst Ice Center from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Once again this year we will ask that each player make at least a $15 donation to the club for his/her participation in the game. All former McDowell hockey players are encouraged to participate, irregardless of how long it’s been since you’ve last skated. It’s a great way to resurrect former team rosters and old line combinations, renew high school acquaintances, catch up on personal lives and re-live special memories of McDowell high school hockey.

The success of this event is largely dependant upon word of mouth invitations, so feel free to forward this message to any alumni you may still be in contact with.

Last years event attracted a total of 37 graduates and former players that participated. The game provided more drama, excitement, laughs and memorable moments than could have been expected as Holmes' Heroes rallied from a 3-goal deficit to defeat Kifer's Kings by a score of 11-9.

If you have not already done so, please respond back to me as quickly as possible by sending me a reply to this E-mail ( ) and let me know whether or not you think there is a good chance you could attend or not.

The Trojan varsity team has a new head coach in the 2012/13 season in Bob Spitzer, who comes to the Trojans program after guiding Harborcreek's varsity team the last 3 seasons. Coach Spitzer will be assisted by Tim Martin. The JV team is now coached by Matt Holmes and assistant Paul Stanopiewicz, New to the McDowell Hockey Club this year is the addition of a Middle School team (grades 6 thru 8). That team is coached by Ryan Adams and assistant's Chris Hilling and Brandon Oathout. All three Middle School coaches as well as JV head coach Matt Holmes are former McDowell players.

GOOD LUCK to the Trojans as they enter a new era in McDowell Hockey lore!

The 2012-13 McDowell high school hockey club is not only enjoying success with it's current roster of players, but they have also seen many alumni moved on to currently play hockey at the collegiate level. McDowell High School Hockey continues to be the top high school in Northwest Pa in producing student / athletes that continue their hockey careers in college. No less than six McDowell hockey graduates are competing this year at a wide variety of distinguished colleges. The list includes:
