Catholic Charities Community Services
Mission Statement: CCCS seeks to provide high quality human services to New Yorkers of all religions who are in need. The newcomer, the family in danger of becoming homeless, the hungry child, the emotionally challenged and developing youth are among those for whom we have a particular concern. Our work is grounded in the belief in dignity of each person as made in the image of God and the building of a just and compassionate society -- especially for the most vulnerable among us.
Organization History: Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) promotes the preservation and strengthening of family life and the empowerment of individuals through the delivery of a comprehensive range of human services and programs. Since 1949, CCCS has been the primary direct service provider of The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. Our programs and services form an integrated, holistic safety net to assist people in achieving long-term stability in income, housing, and wellbeing.
CCCS’ programs are offered at forty-six sites throughout Staten Island, Manhattan, the Bronx, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties. The sites include multi-service community centers, retreat centers, camps and neighborhood-based offices. Our work is complemented by thousands of volunteers who assist at food pantries, mentor children, organize holiday gift drives for low-income families, and coach youth athletics. CCCS employs more than 600 staff and serves more than 100,000 individuals each year without regard to race, ethnicity, gender or religion.

Catholic Youth Organization
CYO Sports and Youth Programs
The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), which is a division of Catholic Charities Community Services, supports the work of hundreds of parishes throughout the Archdiocese of New York to administer organized athletics programs for children and youth ages 4 to 21. In keeping with our mission, CYO Athletic Programs serve youth of all backgrounds and religions. CYO Athletics Programs are not just about the games we play. CYO emphasizes positive coaching, sportsmanship for children and their parents, building diverse communities, and reaching one’s own potential as a physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual being. CYO Athletics Programs are designed to be representative of the values of respect, love, compassion and support for each other. Through sports, competition and teamwork, CYO Athletics provide healthy growth and development through games, practices and the life lessons that sports teach. Currently CYO serves over 24,000 kids in ten New York counties and continues to build leaders every day. CYO’s expertise in administering high quality youth athletics programming is evidenced by 75 years of experience.
CYO programs are organized around parishes at the local level. This model enables CYO staff and volunteers to be truly rooted in local communities. The 24,000 CYO and their parents are strongly connected to our organization. The long-lasting relationships we have with these youth and families allow CCCS to have a high level of standing and credibility in the communities we serve. CYO takes pride in being a welcoming presence which invites youth of all creeds to participate in the athletics programs.
