** Any current Skipjacks that cannot make their Call Back tryout due to vacation or other conflict can attend the open call tryout in the previous week.

We know this is a big jump from our traditional mid-September tryout times, and the decision to move them up was not made without much consideration and analysis.  There are conflicts and pros/cons with any date we pick...  But, in the end, we decided that this format on these dates in Mid-July is best for us for the following reasons:
1)      Navigating school and fall sports schedules makes the fall tryout very difficult and inefficient for all involved (players, parents, and coaches).  Moving into the summer may cause some vacation conflicts, but it removes all others.
2)      Moving the tryouts up to the end of our summer season (Mid-July) makes more sense from a pure lacrosse perspective (no September rust!).  Players will be rolling right out of their spring (town) and summer (club) seasons and playing their best lacrosse.
3)      Going this early also means we stay out of the peak vacation month of August.  Now, everyone will be done on July 23rd, and they can put their sticks away for a couple months and focus on summer and fall sports!
We are fully aware that, for a few different reasons, this move is not ideal for some.  However, we are fully convinced that given the difficulties presented by a September tryout, and given our Skipjacks program goals going forward; this new tryout structure and dates are the right thing to do for our Skipjacks players and our program as a whole.
I hope the above points answer any of the questions you may have.  But, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly if anything remains unclear.   More details coming in the weeks ahead...
Play Hard, Fast, and Smart!
