Everson Soccer Academy (ESA) Tiger Kixx Program is for children that are 3 years old.   The goal for this program is to generate children’s interest for the sport of soccer through teaching its skills in a non-competitive, educational, fun environment. What also makes the program unique is our emphasis on education, as we try to incorporate academic readiness skills into our soccer lessons.

Our philosophy for this program is to use soccer to nurture, to build self-confidence, and to develop teamwork in every session. Our specially designed curriculum incorporates positive reinforcement as well as a low child-to-coach ratio to ensure each child improves at his or her own pace while having endless fun.

For several years we have been working with our training partner Everson Soccer Academy (ESA) whose founder is a professional Brazilian soccer player, Everson Maciel, who has chosen CT as his new home base. We have invited his camps and coaches and trainers to our town to help run our programs and clinics.  Our relationship has grown over the years and toward the end of 2012 we were offered an opportunity to bring their coaches in for kids younger than our Lil' Kicks (who must be 4 years old on the August 1st before the current upcoming season).

It had always bothered us to have to say no to folks who were just too young for our programs.  But we had to have a cutoff somewhere, and as a club we had decided to go by the CJSA (CT Junior Soccer Association) age brackets for registering players.  No exceptions.

In the Spring of 2013, year we decided to give it a try and see what type of program this would yield.  ESA offers Tiger Kixx as clinics around the state, independent of most host towns' soccer programs.  We figured we could incorporate it as one of our club's regular programs that would simply be a precursor to our existing Lil' Kicks group.  Therefore we could now stop turning away the youngest soccer enthusiast.  We would keep the name, and let ESA's professionals do the coaching for this delightful group, with the consideration that at such young ages as 2.5 to 4.5, it would be impossible to maintain team integrity unlike the Lil Kicks and up, and that it would be best to run this like the clinics ESA is so wonderful at conducting.

If you have seen our older in-house programs you will immediately notice the difference, that there are no volunteer parent coaches in this program.  There are no teams that play each other in a game setting.  Instead there are some really fun and engaging folks who do this professionally.

Take a look at ESA's website and especially the Tiger Kixx videos:

In its first two seasons the program just had a maximum of under twenty participants. In Spring 2014 season it has grown to an astonishing forty plus.

We will let the program shape itself into what it needs to be in consecutive seasons.  However since the number has grown exponentially, we are now at a point where we must introduce group or team managers, and a coordinator for the entire age group as in the rest of our pre-travel programs, in order to make it manageable for ESA and for the Branford Soccer Club.  Gone are the days when there were 3 kids and 1 coach.  For this reason, we are going to be looking for volunteers from among you parents.

We greatly appreciate your interest.  Enjoy!
