Mike Larsen – Pitching, Hitting, and Fielding Instructor

This Hull, Ma. native was a four year starter on the Hull High School Varsity Baseball Team. Michael was a two time winner of the team Sportsmanship Award for outstanding leadership in his Junior and Senior year. After graduating from Hull High School, Michael went on to play at Southern Vermont College as a pitcher and infielder.  He appeared in many game throughout his career. Since Graduating from SVC in 2013,  Michael has been the assistant to Michael O’Donnell with the Hull High Varsity Program and a number of Hull youth team. Michael brings youth, passion, knowledge and energy to our program.

 

Matthew Henriksen - Hitting and Fielding Instructor

This Hingham, MA native joins us for the 2014 -2015 training season.  Through out  his college and pro career, Matt has been working with young athletes at clinics and camps. Matt attended and played baseball at Tusculum College a Division II school in Greeneville, TN for 4 years. He graduated in 2013. His college accomplishments :

  • Started at DII Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN for four year as an infielder. In 2012 led the Pioneers to the South Atlantic Conference Championship with a school record 48-10 and an appearance in the NCAA Regional Championships. Won the 2012 South Atlantic Tournament Most Valuable Player

  • In 2013, led the team with 13 home runs, which was second in the conference and tied for fifth in Division II. The 13 home runs were the most by any second baseman in the NCAA

  • Had a .622 slugging percentage for 2013 was also fourth in the conference and 42nd in NCAA II. Finished collegiate career in the top 5 of eight offensive and defensive all-time statistical categories.

  • Pro Experience: 1 season (Alpine Cowboys)  Signed with Alpine Cowboys of the Independent Pecos League. Led the team with 19 doubles which was tied for 4th in the league. Led the Cowboys to a franchise best 51-24 record and an appearance in the league championship as their every day third baseman.

 

Matthew Rodriguez - Catcher/Hitting/Infield Instructor

The Atlantic Baseball welcomes a new addition to our staff. Matthew Rodriguez is a Quincy, MA native. He attended North Quincy High School and played baseball, hockey, and golf. As a 4 year starter in baseball, he was named All Conference his Junior and Senior year. Proceeding high school, attended Curry College were he was a 4 year starter and played catcher/first base.  While at Curry, he was named All Conference catcher, his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. He also led the team in home runs and RBI's, his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year. In addition, he was also named Team Captain his Senior year. In 2015, Matt was an assistant coach and catching/hitting instructor for the Varsity Baseball Team at North Quincy High School. Matthew has instructed at several of the South Shore's Indoor Baseball facilities and several college camps. He brings an abundance of baseball knowledge and enthusiasm to the program.  

Ryne Drummonds -  Pitching, Catching and Hitting Instructor  - The Atlantic Baseball Club is pleased to announce that Ryne Drummonds will be instructing pitching, catching and hitting. Ryne played High School football and baseball at Sylacauga High in Alabama where he was voted team Captain for both baseball and football senior year in 2009. Elected to the All County team for football Senior year and for baseball both Junior and Senior year.  Ryne played Junior College baseball at Jefferson Davis CC in Alabama. Freshman year hit over .320 and pitched 50 innings . Sophomore year hit over .320 while pitching 93 innings and striking out 83 second best in school history. Junior year pitched 86 innings at Brewton- Parker College in Georgia. Senior year Pitched at Talladega College throwing 85 innings. Voted defensive player of the year, hold school record for most strikeouts in a game with 19. 
   Summer 2012 and 2013 compiled a record 14-5 with a 3.22 era and 147 strikeouts with the Regina Red Sox of Western Major baseball League in Canada. Won the 2012 WMBL Championship was the winning pitcher. Voted 2nd team WMBL in 2013.
    
Brian Tanguy - Pitching Instructor

The Atlantic Baseball Club welcomes our newest addition to our fine staff of professional instructors. This Weymouth, MA native played high school baseball at Boston College High School. Here he was a member of the 2001 State Championship Team and a Catholic Conference All- Star in 2002. Brian attended Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH and tied the single season record for wins as a Freshman with five. Brian also played for Clarendon Junior College – Clarendon, TX  in 2003-2004. Then transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan College – Athens, TN. Here he was tied for 2nd in the nation in saves for NAIA with seven. Played for University of Massachusetts Lowell – Lowell, MA (2005-2007)  Brian has also played professionally with the Brockton Rox in 2007-2008 and other leagues such as the Cranberry and Yawkey Leagues where Brian has received several distinguished honors as a pitcher.

Brian is also an accomplished coach and a terrific instructor. He has been at the helm, as well as the assistant coach of several baseball programs both at the scholastic level and club level. He has coached at Gann Academy, RBI Baseball Academy and the South Shore Baseball Club. He is presently an assistant and pitching coach for the 2015 Mariners 13U Super Division Team. Coach Tanguy is available for lessons via our on line scheduling system. 



Stephen Perakslis - Pitching Instructor
Stephen Perakslis is from Abington and is son of the legendary Abington High School baseball coach, Steve Perakslis. A 4 year starter in high school, Steve led the 2010 Abington High School baseball team to the MIAA0 with a 0.25 ERA as a starting pitcher and won numerous awards for doing so. Attended University of Maine on a full baseball scholarship,played in the Cape Cod League until being drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2012. Steve just completed his first full season with the Cubs and played in Kane County Illinois. He worked out of the bullpen particularly in the 8th and 9th inning as the closer. Steve finished the 2014 year with a 1-3 record, 7 saves, 44 strikeouts in 58.1 innings of work posting a 2.93 ERA. In 2015, pitched for the Cubs Double AA club and was on the fast track to "The Show" until a blood clout shut his incredible season down. Steve will return to Double AA ball this spring with the hope his 96 MPH fastball carries him to the MLB Cubs.

   Steve has been around the game his whole life and wants to pass around what he learned to younger ball players. He has been doing clinics and camps with his dad and in college since in high school. Steve is a great addition to the Atlantic Baseball Club instructional staff.

 

Joe Coyne - Catching/Hitting Instructor                                                                                Joe Coyne is a Duxbury, Mass native and played 4 years as a starter at Duxbury High School. He was recruited heavily for several college baseball programs and committed to Saint Joseph's College of Maine. Joe was a four year starter only missing one collegiate game earning:

After graduating from St.Joe's, he played professionally for the Old Orchard Beach Surge (North Country Baseball League), where he hit  .366 (48-131) and was named to the All Star Team. He then was a September call up to the Joplin Blasters of the American Association Professional League. Joe now joins our staff as a catching and hitting instructor.  Joseph is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
