VOLLEYBALL RULES
3RD - 6TH GRADE
 
GAMES:
  • Miola 4 Sports values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility will be stressed throughout the game.
  • Players and coaches are expected to shake hands directly following the game.
  • Sportsmanship will be strictly enforced for players, coaches and spectators.
 
BALLS:
  • 3rd-6th – Volley Lite Ball
 
NUMBER OF PLAYERS:
  • 6 players on the court at one time.
  • Equal playing time for each player on your team is required.
  • You can start and play the game with only 5 players.
  • Game will ALWAYS be played, regardless of the number of players. It is within the spirit of Miola 4 Sports to play every game. The opposing coach will give the team with the shortage enough players to make the minimum to play the game.
 
SERVING:
  • Every player will have an equal opportunity to serve.
  • Serves that hit the net are playable.
  • The server cannot serve the ball until the referee has blown the whistle.
  • The server has 10 seconds to serve the ball after the referee’s whistle has blown.
  • Both underhand and overhand serves are allowed. No jump serves.
  • 3rd – 4th –Underhand servers are allowed to serve from the yellow line.
  • 3rd – 4th –Only 5 serves in a row. After the 5th serve the serve will be given to the opposing team, no point given.
  • 5th – 6th –1 serve allowed. All serves must be done behind the serve line, green. One step over is allowed, foot fault will not be called.
  • 5th - 6th –Continuous serving.
 
GAME INFORMATION:
  • Rally scoring.
  • Score goes to 25 points, having to win by 2 points or 10 minutes.
  • 1-30 second timeout for each team per match.
  • 3 minute warm up before game.
  • Ceiling is playable only if the ball drops on offenses side of play. The basketball goals at the serve line of the court are playable only from the bottom. On a serve it is a side-out.
  • If a team does not have 5 players to start then the other team will give that team enough to play a scrimmage, the team with the shortage will be charged a forfeit.
 
OTHER INFORMATION:
  • Please be courteous to teams that are trying to warm up after your game is through. Hurry off the court and do not walk on the court on your way out.
  • Hold all parent and players meetings out in the lobby.
  • Please pick up all trash.

  • Seeds are determined by win/loss record and total points.
  • Double-elimination.
