What is Windsor CopperHeads Lacrosse?

·       Windsor CopperHeads Lacrosse is an organization dedicated to teaching boys lacrosse throughout Northern Colorado.

·       We organize boys competitive travel teams for our primary lacrosse season which is in the Spring. Our Spring season runs from March through June.

·       We also offer competitive teams travel during the summer months playing in local lacrosse tournaments. Each year, at least one of our teams has won both State and local championships!

My son has no experience in lacrosse.  Can he play lacrosse this spring?

·       All boys in grades 1-8 are welcome to play for Windsor CopperHeads Lacrosse. Our dedicated and experienced coaches are excellent teachers in all levels of lacrosse. They teach both new and experienced players about the skills, rules, and uniquely sportsmanlike culture of lacrosse.

My daughter wants to play lacrosse.  Where can she play?

  • All girls are encouraged to play for the Havoc Program in Fort Collins. For information please visit

What is the registration fee for 2017?

·       Registration fee will be $270 plus uniform cost ($70: $35 for jersey, $33 for shorts, $2 for shipping). If you have a 2016 jersey and shorts set - you do NOT need to buy another jersey set. We have a 2-year jersey plan - this is the second year.

·       All registrants must have US Lacrosse membership ($30 if renewal is necessary).  Registration fee covers our field rental expenses, lacrosse equipment including goals and balls, league fees, CYLA Championship entry fee, officials charges, coaching and educational expenditures, and administrative costs.

·       Our uniforms are custom-made in the USA in Colorado.

Why are players required to have US Lacrosse membership?

·       Membership in US Lacrosse provides us with substantially lower insurance costs and provides our players with supplemental insurance. US Lacrosse provides our sport with important safety research, rules guidelines, and coaching development programs.

·       Most off-season lacrosse tournaments, camps and clinics by other providers require US Lacrosse membership as well, so you will save money in the future.

  • Our registration system is integrated with US Lacrosse membership. If you need to purchase or renew US Lacrosse membership, you will be redirected to to sign up your son and then returned to our website to complete the registration process. If you have issues with the US Lacrosse membership process, email Angela at  . Any issue with membership will not prevent your son from playing with us.

Age verification:

Players who have previously participated in a CYLA spring season can ignore this section. They have already had their age verified.

Players who have NOT previously participated in a CYLA spring season must complete online age verification:

  1. Scan or take a photo of your son's birth certificate (or passport, adoption papers, state-issued ID, etc)
  2. Click here to log into your son's US Lacrosse membership account
  3. Upload your scan or photo
  4. US Lacrosse will review your documentation, record the birth date in their system, and then permanently delete your uploaded document
  5. You'll receive a confirmation email, and you’re done. This is a one-time process that's good for the lifetime of your child’s membership.

How are teams formed?

·       Teams are formed on the basis of GRADE, with AN AGE CUTOFF.  This means that boys in the same grade will generally be grouped in the same age bracket, provided that they meet the age cutoff date of June 1.

·       Click here for more info on Age Brackets:   Age Eligibility Overview

What equipment do players need?

·       Boys must have a lacrosse stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder and elbow pads, a cup, and a mouthguard.

·       Hockey gear is acceptable for new players. Hockey helmets must have a 4 point strap and be NOCSAE approved.  We do not recommend the use of hockey gloves in lieu of lacrosse gloves, due to their increased stiffness and lack of dexterity.

Where to buy equipment:

You have several options for buying new or used lacrosse gear:
